Terms
Updated Oct 24, 2026
These are the terms for using Unflown, written to be read. In short: you add your bookings, we watch the fares, we ask the airline for the difference when a fare drops, and we keep your credits in one wallet with reminders before they expire. By creating an account, or by using Unflown, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Unflown.
Please read the section If something goes wrong. It says that, apart from a few exceptions, disputes between you and Unflown are settled by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, and that you give up the right to a jury trial and to take part in a class action. You can opt out within 30 days of creating your account.
Who we are
"Unflown", "we" and "us" mean Unflown and the business that runs it. "Unflown" also means our website, apps, email addresses and everything else we offer under that name (together, the "service"). We're not a travel agency or seller of travel: we don't sell, book or issue tickets, we don't hold travel funds, and we're not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any airline or hotel. Airline and hotel names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify them. Nothing we say is legal, tax or financial advice.
Agreeing to these terms
- When you sign up, you're asked for three separate yeses: the agent authorization in Acting for you, these terms and the privacy policy, and that you're 18 or older. We can't open an account without all three. We keep a record of each, with the version you agreed to and when.
- These terms, the privacy policy and the agent authorization together are our agreement. If they ever conflict, the agent authorization decides what we may do for you, and these terms decide everything else.
- You agree to receive these terms, notices, receipts and other messages electronically, as described in The fine print.
Early access and invitations
- Invite-only. Unflown is in invite-only early access. We decide who gets an invite, when and how many, and we can pause or end the invite program, or early access itself, at any time. An invite is for the person it's sent to. Don't sell, publish or transfer it, or use more than one email address to get extra invites.
- Still being built. Early access features can be incomplete, labelled beta or preview, limited (for example to certain airlines, or to a number of bookings or claims), changed or removed, and they may have mistakes.
- No service levels. We don't promise any level of availability, speed, response time or support during early access, and we may take the service down for maintenance or fixes, with or without notice.
- Keep your own copy. We take care of your data, but please keep your own record of credits that matter to you. You can download your data at any time.
- Early prices. We may waive or reduce fees for some or all early users, for a time or for certain claims. A waiver applies only to what it says, and doesn't change these terms or waive later fees.
Who can use Unflown, and which bookings
- You need to be 18 or older, live in the United States, be able to make a binding contract, and not be barred from using the service under US law. You can't use Unflown if we've previously closed your account for breaking these terms, unless we agree.
- Unflown is invite-only for now. We decide who gets an invite, and early features may be labelled beta, change quickly, or be withdrawn.
- We ask for fare adjustments on United, American, Delta and Southwest bookings made directly with the airline, on fares that can be changed without a fee. Basic Economy, Southwest's Basic fares, award tickets paid with miles or points, and bookings made through travel sites or card travel portals usually can't be adjusted, so we don't claim on them. We decide which airlines and fares we claim on, and that list may change.
- For hotels, we send rate drop alerts only. We don't rebook hotels.
- The wallet tracks credits, gift cards and certificates from any brand, whether or not we can claim on them.
Your account, sign-in and household
- Signing in. You sign in with Google, with a one-time code we email you, or with another method we offer, such as Sign in with Apple. Unflown has no password of its own. If the same verified email address signs in more than one way, it's one Unflown account.
- Keeping it secure. Keep your Google account and your email inbox secure: anyone who can read your email can receive a sign-in code. Never share one; we'll never ask you for it. Tell us at once at support@getunflown.com if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens under your account, except where it's caused by our failure to take reasonable security measures.
- One person per account. Don't share your sign-in, sell or transfer your account, or create an account for someone else, or more than one for yourself.
- Accurate details. Give us your real name as it appears on your bookings, your date of birth and the email address your airline bookings go to, and keep them up to date.
- Households. A wallet's owner can invite people to share it as a household, each with a role: an editor or assistant can add and change things, and a viewer can only look. Everyone in a household can see what's in the wallet, including forwarded emails. An invite link works for whoever opens it first, until it's used or expires, so send it only to the person you mean it for.
- The owner's responsibility. The wallet's owner is responsible for who they invite, for what members do in the wallet, and for removing anyone who should no longer have access. Anyone who joins a household agrees to these terms for themselves.
- Leaving. When a member leaves or is removed, what they added stays in the wallet, and its history still shows the changes they made. A wallet always has an owner: an owner who shares a wallet makes someone else its owner, or removes the others, before closing their account.
Acting for you
To ask an airline for a fare difference, Unflown needs your permission to act for you. When you sign up, you're asked to agree to this separately, with its own checkbox:
I authorize Unflown to act as my agent to request fare adjustments on the bookings I add, and to identify itself to the airline as my authorized representative.
What that permission covers:
- Only the bookings you add. Nothing else in your travel or your accounts. A booking someone else in your household adds is covered by their own authorization.
- Asking for a lower fare on the same booking. We contact the airline and ask it to reprice your existing ticket to the current lower fare and issue the difference as a credit or, on refundable fares, a refund. That includes giving the airline the booking details it needs, such as the passengers' names and dates of birth and the email on the reservation, receiving its replies, following up, and accepting an adjustment on the same flights, cabin and fare type, with the credit or refund that results, for the passengers on the booking.
- Who does the work. Anyone working for us, and the tools we use, may do this work, within the same limits.
- Saying who we are. We tell the airline we're acting for the passenger named on the booking. We don't pretend to be you.
- Everyone on the booking. If a booking includes other passengers, you confirm that you're one of them, and that each of the others, or their parent or guardian, has authorized you to add it and to let us act for them on it. Credits go to each passenger, under the airline's rules.
- A record. We keep a record of your authorization: its wording and version, when you gave it, the IP address and browser you gave it from, and when you withdrew it. We may show it to an airline that asks.
This is a limited permission, not a power of attorney. We decide how and when to contact an airline, and whether a drop is worth claiming; we don't have to make every request we could, and we can stop acting on a booking at any time. To the extent the law allows, our duties to you as your agent are the ones these terms describe. You can take the permission back at any time: remove a booking to stop claims on it, or close your account to stop all of them. Requests already made to an airline stay as they are, and a fee is still due on a credit the airline issues because of a request we made before you withdrew.
What we never do
- We never ask for, store or use your airline or hotel passwords, and we never sign in to your loyalty accounts. We work from the booking itself: the confirmation number, passenger name and date of birth, and loyalty numbers if you choose to add them.
- We never cancel or rebook a trip without asking you first. If an airline needs a cancel and rebook to adjust a fare, we tell you what would change and wait for your yes. If you say yes, you accept the result as the airline issues it.
- We never buy anything for you, accept upgrades, or change your seats, dates, route or passengers.
- We never sell your data. See the privacy policy.
Your booking and the airline's rules
- Your ticket is a contract between you and the airline, not with us. Its fare rules and contract of carriage decide whether a fare can be adjusted, what form the difference takes, and when a credit expires. We're not a party to it, and nothing in these terms changes your rights against the airline.
- The airline decides every request. It can refuse, change its policy, ask for a cancel and rebook, or give a different amount or form of credit than we asked for. When it won't adjust a fare, we'll try to send you the lower fare and the steps to ask for it yourself, while the lower fare is still there.
- We ask for the same flight, seat and confirmation code. Occasionally an airline reissues a ticket and a seat assignment, upgrade request, special service request or other detail drops; tell us and we'll help you get it back, but we can't guarantee it.
- We aren't responsible for what airlines do or don't do, including refused or reduced claims, schedule changes, delays and cancellations, lost seats or upgrades, changes to fare rules or credit terms, or how an airline handles the details we give it.
- Credits are issued by the airline, usually to each passenger's own airline account, and can be used only under the airline's rules. They aren't cash, and Unflown doesn't hold, transfer or guarantee your money, credits or refunds.
- If an airline tells us to stop contacting it on your behalf, or we believe our requests could harm you, other customers or Unflown, we'll stop and let you know.
Forwarded emails
- You add bookings by forwarding confirmation emails to trips@getunflown.com, by hand or with a rule in your email that does it for you. Forward only emails about your own or your household's travel that you're entitled to share.
- We file an email in your wallet only when we can tell it's yours, and turn away email we can't match to anyone.
- If you set up automatic forwarding, you authorize us to confirm your email provider's forwarding request for you where it allows.
- Set your rule to send only airline emails. If it sends us anything else, we use it only to decide that it isn't for us, and delete it as the privacy policy describes.
- We may refuse emails over our size limits, or too many from one address in a short time.
Your wallet and reminders
- The wallet is a tool to help you keep track. The airline's, hotel's or other issuer's own records decide what a credit, gift card or certificate is worth, what its code is, and when it expires. Check those records before you rely on what the wallet shows, especially before a trip or an expiry date.
- Details we enter from forwarded emails can be wrong or missing. Check what's added, and correct anything that doesn't match.
- Reminders are a courtesy. We try to send them on time, but they can be late, filtered as spam or not arrive, and you remain responsible for using your credits before they expire. We aren't responsible for a credit that expires or goes unused.
Emails and notifications
- Messages about your account. We email you sign-in codes, invitations, claim results, receipts, billing and security notices, and changes to these terms. They're part of the service, so they continue while your account is open.
- Reminders. Each member chooses daily, weekly or no reminder emails in Settings, and every reminder has a link to change or stop them. On a phone, you control notifications in your phone's settings.
- News. We may occasionally email account holders about Unflown, with a link to unsubscribe. If you only asked for an invite, we email you about the invite and nothing else.
- Texts. We don't send text messages without your separate consent, and you never need to agree to them to use Unflown.
- Messages go to the email address on your account. Keep it current and check your spam folder; we aren't responsible for messages your email provider delays or filters.
Fees
- Tracking is free. Unlimited credits, gift cards and certificates, household sharing and expiry reminders cost nothing. Credits you add yourself are always free.
- Credits we claim for you: the fee is 15% of the amount the airline gives back, charged once the airline confirms the credit. If a claim doesn't succeed, you owe nothing. The fee is earned when the airline confirms the credit, whether or not you later use it, and it's still due if the credit expires unused, you cancel the trip, or you close your account.
- Refunds to your card: on refundable fares, where the airline refunds the difference to your original payment, the fee is charged once the refund arrives.
- When you're charged: each fee is charged on its own, once the airline confirms the credit, with a receipt showing that credit, the amount the airline gave back and the fee. If you'd rather get one bill, you can choose monthly billing in Settings: fees that come due during the month are charged together once a month, on one receipt that lists each credit and its fee. You can switch back at any time; fees already due are charged on the next bill.
- Payment: no card is needed to start; we ask for one when your first fee is due. You authorize us, through our payment processor, to charge fees to the card you add, or to another card you add later. You enter your card on our payment processor's page, and we never see or store your full card number. You can't remove your card while a fee is owed. Fees are in US dollars and don't include any taxes, which we'll add where required.
- If a payment fails: we'll let you know and may try again, including when you add a new card. Until fees that are due are paid, we may pause new claims on your account. You remain responsible for fees that are due even after your account is closed.
- If the airline takes it back: if an airline reverses or cancels a credit we charged for, through no fault of yours, we refund the fee. Otherwise, fees aren't refundable, except where the law requires.
- If we get a charge wrong: we charge each credit's fee only once. If we ever charge the wrong amount, or charge for a credit that wasn't issued, we refund the difference in full as soon as we find it or you tell us.
- Questions about a charge: write to us within 60 days of the charge and we'll look into it; after that, the charge is final, except where the law gives you longer. Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank, so we can fix it faster. If you dispute a charge that's valid, we may suspend your account until it's settled.
- Changes to prices: we'll email you at least 30 days before a price change, and a change never applies to credits already claimed.
Your part
- Add only bookings you're on, or that the passengers have agreed to you adding.
- When you give us someone else's details, such as another traveler's name and date of birth, you confirm that you're allowed to share them with us for the service, and that you've told them about it where the law requires. For a child, that means you're their parent or guardian or have their parent's permission.
- Forward only emails you're entitled to share, and don't forward or add government ID numbers, passwords or full card numbers.
- Keep your details accurate, especially names and dates of birth as they appear on the booking. A wrong detail can make an airline refuse a request, and we aren't responsible for the result.
- Check your booking after any adjustment, and tell us within 7 days if anything looks different.
- Tell us if a booking is cancelled or changed, so we don't ask the airline about a trip that's no longer the same.
- Don't ask the airline for the same fare difference yourself while we're claiming it, so the airline doesn't receive two requests. If you'd rather claim it yourself, remove the booking first.
Using Unflown fairly
You may use Unflown only for yourself and your household, and only as these terms allow. Unless we've agreed in writing, you may not, and may not help or let anyone else:
- Scrape or harvest. Crawl, scrape, spider or harvest data, text, images or code from the service or our website, by bots, scripts or any other automated means. Search engines and similar indexing services may crawl the public pages of our website as our robots.txt allows; nothing else may.
- Automate access. Use the app, our APIs or our email addresses through scripts, bots, headless browsers or any interface other than the ones we provide.
- Take it apart. Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or try to derive the source code, data structures, methods or algorithms of the service, except where the law allows it despite this restriction.
- Copy or compete. Copy, frame, mirror, modify or make works based on the service, our website, the app, or their designs, text, graphics or code, or use any of them, or anything you learn from them, to build, train or improve a competing product or service.
- Get around limits. Get around invite-only access, rate or usage limits, security, sign-in or anything else that limits access, or probe, scan or test the service for weaknesses. If you find a security problem, tell us at support@getunflown.com and don't use or share it.
- Resell or share. Sell, resell, rent, lease or sublicense the service, offer it to others as part of a business, such as booking or managing travel for clients, or share your account with anyone outside your household. People you invite to your household have their own sign-in.
- Misuse claims. Make false, duplicate or fraudulent claims, claim on bookings you aren't entitled to, or use the service to misuse an airline's systems or break its rules.
- Cause harm. Break the law or anyone's rights; send spam, bulk email, malware or harmful content to us; overload, disrupt or interfere with the service; impersonate anyone; or create accounts to avoid a suspension or a limit.
- Use our name. Use our name, logo or designs, or suggest that we endorse you, without our written permission, or remove any notice of our rights.
We may investigate suspected misuse, remove content, block traffic, suspend or close accounts, and report misuse to the authorities where appropriate.
Your data and our service
- Your data stays yours. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, copy, process, show and share your bookings, emails, credits and other information you add, only as needed to run, secure and improve the service, including sharing what a claim needs with the airline and what's in a shared wallet with your household, as described in the privacy policy. That permission ends when the data is deleted, except for copies we must keep by law or in backups for a limited time.
- You confirm that you have the right to give us that permission for everything you add or forward.
- We may use information that's been combined or stripped of anything that identifies you to run and improve the service and to describe it publicly. That information is ours.
- We don't have to review what you add, but we may remove anything that breaks these terms.
Our work, and your licence to use it
- The service is ours. Unflown's software, apps, website, designs, text, graphics, logos and name, and everything we build from them, belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws.
- Your licence. While your account is open and you follow these terms, we give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the service for yourself and your household, and to install and use our app on devices you own or control. Nothing else is licensed to you, and we keep all other rights.
- Some parts of the service include open-source software, which is licensed under its own terms.
- Feedback: if you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, without owing you anything.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Unflown infringes your copyright, send a notice to our copyright agent at support@getunflown.com. Include your signature; the work you believe is infringed; where the material is on Unflown; your contact details; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the owner, its agent or the law; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for them. If we remove something you added because of a notice, you can send a counter-notice with the details the law requires. We close the accounts of repeat infringers where appropriate.
Other companies' services
The service links to and relies on services we don't control, such as airlines, sign-in with Google or Apple, your email provider, app stores, and the companies that host, deliver email and process payments for us. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to what they do, and we aren't responsible for them, their availability or their mistakes.
What we can't promise
- No guarantee of savings. We can't promise that a fare will drop, that we'll catch every drop, that we'll claim every drop we catch, that an airline will agree to adjust a fare, or how much you'll get back.
- Fare checks, claims and reminders depend on airline websites and staff, email delivery and services we don't control, and can be late, wrong or missed. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, outages or reasons outside our control, and we may change, add or remove features.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, Unflown is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some states don't allow these disclaimers, so some of them may not apply to you.
Limits on our liability
- To the fullest extent the law allows, Unflown and its owners, employees, contractors and service providers aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, lost or expired credits, missed fare drops, lost seats or upgrades, missed or changed trips, lost data or loss of goodwill, however caused and even if we were told they were possible.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims relating to the service or these terms is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim, or $100.
- These limits apply whatever the legal theory, and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. They're part of what lets us offer the service free to track and at these prices. They don't limit liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as for our fraud or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury we cause.
If your use causes a claim
If someone brings a claim against Unflown because you broke these terms or the law, added a booking or someone's information without their permission, gave us false details, or misused the service, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from it, including reasonable lawyers' fees, to the extent the law allows. That includes a claim by another traveler on a booking you added without their agreement. It doesn't cover anything caused by our own breach of these terms or misconduct. We'll tell you about the claim, and you can help defend it.
Stopping, closing and changes
- You can stop any time. Remove a booking, stop reminders or close your account from Settings. Closing your account withdraws your permission for us to act for you.
- What happens to your data. When you close your account, we erase or keep your data as the privacy policy describes. A wallet you share stays with the rest of your household, including what you added to it. Download anything you want to keep first.
- What happens to fees. Fees for credits the airline confirmed before or after you close, because of requests we made before you closed, are still due, and we may charge them to your card on file.
- If we suspend or close an account. We may suspend or close an account, or refuse a claim, if it's used to break these terms, the law or an airline's rules, if a payment is overdue, if we suspect fraud, or if we need to protect you, other people or Unflown. We'll tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it. We may also close an account for any other reason with 30 days' notice.
- If we stop the service. We may stop offering the service, or end early access; if we do, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to download your data.
- Changes to these terms. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email you or tell you in the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect, unless the change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you keep using Unflown after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, close your account before then. Changes never apply to a dispute we already know about.
- When your account closes, the sections on fees already due, your data and our service, our work, what we can't promise, limits on our liability, claims caused by your use, disputes and the fine print continue to apply.
If something goes wrong
Talk to us first. Write to support@getunflown.com with your name, the email on your account, what happened and what you'd like us to do. The notice must come from you personally, or from your lawyer on your behalf alone, not on behalf of a group. We'll do the same if we have a dispute with you. Most problems can be fixed quickly. Before starting arbitration or a court case, both of us agree to try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 60 days from that notice, and the time limit for bringing a claim is paused meanwhile.
Arbitration. If we can't resolve it, you and Unflown agree that any dispute relating to the service or these terms will be settled by binding individual arbitration, not in court, under the Federal Arbitration Act. The arbitration is run by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, and its supplementary rules for mass arbitrations when they apply, by one arbitrator, in writing, by video or phone, or in the county where you live. The arbitrator can award you the same individual relief a court could. For claims within the limits the AAA sets, we'll pay the filing, administration and arbitrator fees beyond what you'd pay to file in court, unless the arbitrator finds your claim frivolous. The arbitrator decides all questions, including whether a dispute must be arbitrated, except that a court decides questions about the class action waiver and the mass filing process below.
Exceptions. Either of us can instead bring an individual claim in small claims court, and either of us can ask a court for urgent relief to stop serious harm or the misuse of our intellectual property or the service. A request for public injunctive relief, where the law doesn't allow it to be waived, is decided by a court after the individual claims are arbitrated.
No class actions or jury trials. Each of us may bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in a class, collective or representative action, and the arbitrator can't combine claims or award relief to anyone else. You and Unflown each give up the right to a jury trial. If this class action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim goes to court and not to arbitration, after any individual claims are arbitrated.
Mass filings. If 25 or more similar claims are filed by or with the help of the same lawyers or organization, they'll be handled in batches of up to 50, with one arbitrator per batch, while the rest wait, and the deadline to file them is paused meanwhile.
Opting out. You can opt out of arbitration by emailing support@getunflown.com within 30 days of creating your account, with your name, the email on your account and a statement that you opt out. Opting out doesn't affect anything else in these terms. If we later change this section in a way that matters, you can reject the change by emailing us within 30 days of it, and the version you last agreed to keeps applying to you.
Time limit. To the extent the law allows, a claim must be brought within one year after it arises, or it's permanently barred.
Law and courts. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the arbitration agreement above. Otherwise, these terms are governed by applicable US federal law and the laws of the state where you live. Any dispute that isn't arbitrated will be heard in the state or federal courts for the county where you live, or your local small claims court, and both of us agree to those courts' jurisdiction. You keep any rights your local consumer protection law gives you that can't be waived by contract.
The fine print
- Electronic notices: you agree to receive these terms, receipts, notices and other messages from us electronically, by email to the address on your account or in the app, and that they meet any requirement for written notice. To receive them you need an internet connection and an email account; you can save or print any of them. You can withdraw this consent only by closing your account. Keep your email address current. Notices to us go to support@getunflown.com.
- The whole agreement: these terms, the privacy policy and anything you agree to when you sign up, such as the agent authorization, are the whole agreement between you and Unflown about the service.
- If part doesn't hold: if any part of these terms can't be enforced, it's changed only as much as needed to make it enforceable, and the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver: if we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
- Transfers: you can't transfer these terms or your account. We may transfer them, for example if Unflown is sold, merged or reorganized, and we'll tell you if we do. Whoever takes over must keep to these terms.
- Events beyond our control: we aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as outages at airlines or providers, internet failures, cyberattacks, pandemics, natural disasters, strikes or government action.
- Export and sanctions: you confirm that you aren't in a country under a US government embargo, or on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties, and you agree not to use or export the service in breach of US export or sanctions laws.
- No third-party rights: these terms are between you and Unflown; no one else, including any airline, can enforce them, except as the iPhone app paragraph says.
- Our relationship: apart from the limited agency described in Acting for you, nothing in these terms makes us partners, employees or fiduciaries of each other.
- iPhone app: if you use Unflown on an iPhone, these terms are between you and Unflown, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app, its maintenance, its support or any claims about it, including product liability, legal compliance and intellectual property claims, and has no duty to maintain it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms who may enforce them against you. Apple's App Store terms also apply. If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, which will refund any purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Language and headings: these terms are written in English, which controls over any translation. Headings and examples are there to help you read; they don't limit what a section says. "Including" means "including without limitation".
